A special tile panel made of six tiles in frame made by De Porceleyne Fles in Delft.

Painted after Cornelis Bisschop (Dordrecht 1630-1674). Made in 1883.

Measurements tile panel without frame: ca. 31 cm x 46 cm, ca. 12 inch x 18 inch.

Details

This Delft Blue ceramic panel had been decorated with the domestic interior scene after Cornelis Bisschop (Dordrecht 1630-1674).

Cornelis Bisschop was a Dutch Golden Age Painter. He specialized in interior scenes, which reveal a daily life of the 17th century Dutch society. Bisschop was probably one of the first who started painting in trompe l´oeil style in The Netherlands.

This particular scene depicts typical Dutch 17th century interior. The Dutch Delft Blue tiles on the wall indicates on the high social status of depicted couple. Visible couple wear the quite sophisticated pieces of clothing, slightly available for everybody in 17th century. Woman is cleaning a piece of clothing and man is hanging a mirror.

However, scene bares a symbolical meaning due to represented objects. The scene is proportional and opened. Theme is significantly dedicated to home domestic issues.

Panel was painted in Delft, The Netherlands. It dates from 1883 and was hand painted for the De Porceleyne Fles.
