Delft ceramic tile panel, view on the Matterhorn, painted in blue, late 19th century, signed lower right ‘De Porceleyne Fles’, signed lower left ‘Leon Senf’, ca. 78 x 52 cm (30,7 x 20,5 inch), framed.
This late 19th century tile panel depicts a swirling river near the Matterhorn, the well known mountain in the Swiss Alps. A very unusual theme. It is painted by one of the most succesful master painters of the “De Porceleyne Fles” in Delft, Leon Senf (1860-1940). With this vivid and extreme realistic work, Leon Senf shows his great talent as ceramic painter.
