Details

Beautiful tile in Frame made around 1900. Maker unknow. This Delft Blue ceramic panel had been decorated with the genre scene after Rembrandt (Leiden 1606-1669). Painting could be executed approximately at the beginning of the second half of 17th century. Rembrandt was the most prominent painter of the 17th century The Netherlands and was highly respected and admired during his lifetime. This scene is titled Beggars Receiving Alms At A Door. Rembrand could eventually merge some themes as he used to sometimes do by dressing his sitter in costumes one or even few centuries too early than the actual century. Originally the scene was made in the form of etching from 1648. This ceramic panel had been executed by the anonymous painter and could have been painted in approximately end of the second half of the 19th century.
