In 1615, the Italian architect Vincenzo Scamozzi from Venice published his standard work L'ldea dell'Architettura Universale. In his book, he made an attempt at unraveling Roman classical architecture and finding out which of its elements appealed to us and why. His idea as about symmetry, dimension, and scale, as well as the use of symbols from Antiquity, made an impression all over Europe. The book became a bestseller and, in the Netherlands, even led to a new building style, the result is presented by house number 69.
