Shoe
This little, charming shoe dates from around 1700 and originates from Delft.
Miniature shoes were evidently popular items among the 18th and 19th centuries. Primarily they were intended as an amusing gift. The design of the ceramic shoe always followed the latest fashion in shoes.
This particular model with a rounded toe, large bowl, and substantial heel could have been worn by magistrate of this period.
The shoe is painted with the use of cobalt oxide and manganese pigment.
