Tegelveld Mijnlief Utrecht/ Tile compilation Mijnlief Utrecht

This unique and extravagant compilation of Art Nouveau tiles was made by the Holland Utrecht Fayance en Tegelfabriek - Mijnlief Utrecht (1893-1920). The pattern on the tiles was designed by Dutch interior designer - Jac van de Bosch (Amsterdam, 1868-1948).

Jan Willem Mijnlief (1862-1937) bought the tile factory in 1894. The factory was located at the Vaartse Rijn in city Utrecht and during the leadership of J.W. Mijnlief it acquired international fame. Moreover, in 1900 after a presentation of Art Nouveau pottery at the World Exhibition in Paris, the interest and the export of the goods produced by the factory grew significantly.

The main motif on the tiles is called "Cirkel Driehoek" and originally consists of four different sub-patterns.
