Delft ceramic tile panel, winter landscape, painted in blue, late 19th century, signed lower right ‘De Porceleyne Fles’, signed lower left ‘DW.’ and ‘Apol’, ca. 52 x 65 cm (20,5 x 25,6 inch), framed.

This tile panel is painted in the late 19th century by presumably J. de Wilde. The landscape was painted after a work of Louis Apol (1850-1936). Apol was specialized in winter landscapes and was inspired by nature. He became one of the most important members of the Hague School, a group of artists artist who lived and worked around The Hague. The blue and white of the tile panel strengthens the overwhelming icy forest scene.
